A Easy Collage Tutorial

First gather all your materials. I printed a lovely blue piece of vintage ephemera and glued it to a piece of hard cardboard. I chose my antique cabinet photos, millinery flowers and jewelry.



The vintage lace was glued to one side of the collage. I use clothespins to hold the lace in place.




I then placed my cabinet photo and the vintage tintype. Then I accented the photos with some vintage buttons.




The vintage millinery flowers and jewelry were glued on top of a scrunched piece of tulle. I used scrabble letters to spell out the word "Love".



I am going to leave the collage alone for a few days and then come back with fresh eyes.

My Little Town on the Texas Coast

Lots of Land


I thought I might share some photos of my little town on the Texas coast. We have only two stop lights in town and a set of working railroad tracks that cut through the center of town.

There is a small saloon in the heart of downtown and on several occasions I have seen a horse tied out front. Now that's true Texas style.

There is plenty of open land for more development. Thankfully it is the kind of town where if you leave a door unlocked, your stuff will still be there when you get home.

My neighbors on both sides of me are the sweetest people on earth. They have helped me when I was sick, by cutting the grass, taking care of my animals and bringing over food and medicine.

Found treasures

While rummaging through some boxes in the bottom of my studio closet, I came across a small nicely made wooden box with my late husbands initial on it. This is what I found inside. Everything tested gold except for the lighter and the mother of pearl sacred heart charm. The pieces are very nice. To bad the stones have been removed from the rings.

He's Looking At Me Mommy !!!

Do you remember when your kids did the " he's looking at me....he's touching me " routine. Well my kids are all grown up but I still have the problem of sibling rivlery. Tuffy loves to give the cat hell. He gets up right in kelly's face and barks. Poor kelly makes faces like the barking hurts his ears and sometime will meow to me to come and make Tuffy stop. I can usually distract Tuffy with the promise of a treat. While Tuffy eats his treat, Kelly looks for a quiet place to take a nap.

Oops..........I May Have Kissed The Frog !

I may very well incur the wrath of my neighbors. I have dragged several hundred pounds of dead wood cuttings from various trees and bushes in my yard out to the curb. Upon coming in to rest....I checked the city pick up date for yard debris. It was April 9th....so I am a week late, and my debris may not get picked up until next month. Hopefully my neighbors are not planning any big Easter get together because besides being unsightly, my debris is taking up at least two parking spaces on the street.

Look at that Face

If that isn't the look of love.....I don't know what is. This is a photo of T.J. He came to me so small, he fit in the palm of my hand. The old farmer man told me if I didn't rescue him he would die because his momma did not have enough milk for him. He was supposed to be a shih-tzu but as he grew he began to look like a malti-poo. He is just as cute as a button and smart as can be.

To him.....I am the center of the universe......she from which all good things (treats) flow.

If you are looking for unconditional love.....get a dog!

Despite being overcast a somewhat dark today, the beauty of the flowers in my garden are shining through. The feeling of satisfaction of knowing that these flowers have been planted by my own hands is fulfilling.

Easter's Promise

Easter's promise is all around me. I see it in the new life springing up out of the ground even after a devastating freeze. It is God's promise of new life....a renewal of the spirit and it comes in the simple things we see every day.

For the Love of Jane Eyer

One of my favorite stories is "Jane Eyer" by Charlotte Bronte. Jane is a penniless orphan who overcomes hardships to become the lady of the manor and against all odds find her true love.

While on one of my favorite blogs, Dustjacket Attic ( you can find it on my sidebar ) , I came across a photo shoot called black and white. The date is Nov 5, 2010 and the photographer is Ayten Alpun.

The photo's have a Jane Eyer, Gothic, romantic feel to me. Dark, moody and romantic, there is nothing more beautiful than a pale woman in a black dress.
