AMC The Walking Dead

The new season of The Walking Dead starts on AMC February 12 at 9:00 eastern 8:00 central time. I was blown away at the end of the last season when they found Sophia. I never expected them to find her where they did.

I am madly in love with Norman and really like the way they have allowed his character to develop a rustic nobility. Rick is forever strong, although the final moments of the last season may forever alter his character. Shane is a walking disaster....half mad and insane with lust, remorse, and jealousy that he functions as a loose cannon.

The rest of the characters are all people that you can't help but care about.

I am so looking forward to the start of the new season.

A New Science Project

While visiting a local shop, I noticed a small succulent plant in a baby food jar filled with rice. I asked the girl behind the deck about the plant and she said it had been in the jar untouched for the past year. Apparently the rice draws moisture from the air so the plant never needs to be watered.

I have some jars, some rice and some small succulent plants. I'll let you know if this science project works out.

I scoured the Internet in regard to this project and could not find a thing in regard to replaceing soil with rice.

Have a wonderful day.......try something new !!

The " Dinoboard "

I took an old game board and with acrylic paint, transformed it into a dinosaur habitat. My sweet little grandson Kyle called to thank me for the "dinoboard." I love the fact that he thought of a word that described my artistic endeavor.

I remember as a child I had a fascination with dinosaur's and would have played with a dinoboard like this for hours.

One of my favorite Godzilla vs King Kong movies and a vintage 3d book with new 3d glasses rounded out the package I sent to Kyle.

Christmas got pushed back to January this year because of my grief over losing my beloved " Tuffy".

I am feeling a little better day by day. I know "Tuffy" had a good life and I enjoyed his company so very much. He was my "little man ", bossing me around with his bark.....demanding his treats up to the very last day of his life.

Have a wonderful day!

Thinking of Spring

The nights are cool.............the mornings chilly.............the days are warming up. I think spring is in the air. All I know is that the more I can turn off the heat or the air conditioner and open all the doors and windows, the more I like it. The dogs like it too because with the back door open they can come and go as they like.

I am already planning container gardening for my veggies using...............http://www.josho.com/gardening.htm ......... This looks so easy to do and conserves water and fertilizer. Once set up the container almost takes care of itself.

I am on a major cleaning out, throwing away, donating to goodwill, jag, so I have some large plastic containers left over.......plus I can get more containers at the Dollar Store.

I have to finish the island planting in the front yard with mulch. Choosing the colors of flowers for hanging baskets and urns is always exciting. Shall I go with pink, purple or yellow.........Decisions.........Decisions.

Have a wonderful productive day !

A Suprise For My Son-in-Law

Painted on an old Bible........a portrait of my son-in-law's beloved pit bull "Bobo".

I must have at least a half a dozen old bibles on my bookshelf. They make a perfect canvas for a small painting. I can't wait to see the look on his face.

Have a Wonderful Creative Day.

The Joys Of Thrifting

Just a few of the lovely things I found while thrifting last week. The atomic snowflake pink glasses came in a set of 10 for 25 cents each. The little silver scallop dish reminds me of the trophy Dara won while she was taking English horseback riding lessons. The two tier rattan pie or treat stand might make it up to Dara's house for the holidays. The linen towel from 1973 was one of two I was able to find. I love linen towels in the kitchen. I simply could not resist the two yellow enamal sause pans, the small seashell vase and the large "Pyrex" glass measuring cup.

Have a great day finding treasures

A Quiet and Reflective New Year with Chocolate

I spent a quiet and reflective New Year here in my little cottage with my little pups. I fortified myself with chocolate covered pretzels that were fabulous. I pampered myself and my dogs because I am grateful for their presence in my life. They tolerate me dressing them up in funny hats so who could ask for more.

Be grateful for your many blessings in this life and whenever possible reward yourself with chocolate.

Have a great day.
