A Pretty Little Mystery

In the 60's, Holly Hobby was the decorating rage for little girls room. Apparently Sears came up with a pseudo Holly Hobby. She is a little girl with red hair having fun in the garden with a watering can and some ducks.

For the life of me.....I have researched this print and can not find out anything about it. So......It remains a pretty little mystery.

I found this little cutie in a thrift shop and could not resist bring it home. The twin bedspread is made by Sears and is lightly padded for fluff not for warmth. Lucky for me...the matching pillow sham was attached. I think it looks adorable and I soon will be putting it up for sale on

Have a great day!

Many Many Strange Times

The Mississippi is overflowing her banks. The human race has been hit hard by many earth changes coming fast and furious. Having lived through the 60's when we were told in somber tones that we were going through a global cooling, I will not allow myself to be fooled by the warnings of a global warming now. I spent many hours planning how to keep my family alive after the eternal winter started. I will not be fooled again.

The earth is changing....the fossil records tell us those changes took place before man ever walked on the earth.

My heart goes out to the people in Louisiana. Jim and I lived in Lake Charles Louisiana and enjoyed our time there. The people were friendly and laid back. The Cajun food was wonderful and I would love to return to lake Charles again some day.

Pray for calm today.

The Ixora are in Bloom

Early this spring, I decides to replant an area in front of the house that had been hard hit by the freeze. I chose Ixora in yellow and orange to accent the buff color brick. Ixora is a tropical evergreen shrub that blooms most of the year.

The orange plants have started to bloom. and I am very happy with the result.

Have a great day !

Time to Rest and Reflect

The past week including Mothers Day has been spent in rest and reflection. My beloved Tuffy was almost taken from me because of my thoughtless mistake.
Mothers day was quiet and restful....thankfully. I don't think I could take more excitement. I spent most of the morning in the back yard weed whacking the grass around the patio so the yard will look sharp and finished. I filled humming bird feeders and moved the hanging baskets to Shepard hooks around the patio.

Last week, on Wednesday, I saw a new Doctor. I like her very much and am thinking about switching Doctors. I have had my old Doctor for over 10 years. He relies on the staff to talk to me and take notes to add to my chart. Then he just comes in the room, reads from my chart and never really talks to me or touches me, even to take my blood presser. He charges medicare the most expensive extended visit charge so I am stuck with a larger 20% left after medicare.

The new woman Doctor actually seemed happy to talk to me and looked in my ears and took my blood presser herself. My 20% left after medicare was only $14.00.......far less than the extended visit charge. I am going back early next month to have some skin tags removed and will probably take in all my meds and switch Doctors.

The nights after Tuffy's choking incident, I found it very hard to sleep. I think I was going through some sort of obsessive compulsive behavior. I kept thinking about what happened over and over like a broken record. It's getting better now....but I was having trouble sleeping. I must learn to go to my happy place and relax.

Have a great day.

Tuffy has a Criminal Record......A Rap Sheet

Just when you think your life is going along hit a bump in the road.

I had some left over breaded and fried chicken, much like chicken nuggets. I thought I would give all the dogs a treat and feed them the leftovers. Of course "Tuffy" is my favorite so I gave him the biggest piece. He wolfed it down and it got stuck in his throat....he was choking.

I had no time to even think. I carried him to the bathroom....put him on the sink...and proceeded to put my fingers down his throat. It took two tries but I was able to pull the meat out. MY right hand got pretty chewed up because the poor little guy was just trying to shut his mouth and breath.

The following morning I took a closer look at my hand and my first finger. I had deep puncture wounds that looked red and infected. A quick check on the Internet informed me how many germs a dogs mouth carries so I decided I should take a trip to the local emergency room. I had a Doctors appointment on Wednesday, but did not want to wait that long.

Much to my surprise, a dog bite, no matter what the reason has to be reported to animal control.

So......The end result "Tuffy" has a rap sheet with animal control.
